Hi Brian.<div><br></div><div>Writing as NABCEP's new Executive Director I can tell you that the Board has approved the development of a "Technical Sales Certification" which is intended for those solar professionals who are not actively involved in installation but who do a variety of other critical tasks including; customer visit, financial and performance estimation, component selection, documentation etc. Work on this Certification is at it's infancy - a mere glimmer of a concept beginning to take shape and form. </div><div><br></div><div>We have a small Committee who is charged with drafting a Task Analysis and Scope of Certification. Once these documents are in draft form, and vetted and accepted by the NABCEP board an extensive stakeholder input phase will take place. At that RE-wrenches, along with many others across the industry, will be asked for comments, suggestions etc.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm personally very excited about this upcoming Certification - I think it will address the needs of many outstanding PV professionals who no longer spend much time on the roof. With respect to time line - I'm guessing from past experience somewhere around 18 months from now if all goes well. Please feel free to contact me off list if you want more information on this or any other existing or emerging NABCEP program.</div><div><br></div><div>Best regards,</div><div><br></div><div>Ezra</div><div><br></div><div><br><div> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: auto; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; "><div>Ezra Auerbach</div><div>Executive Director </div><div>North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP)</div><div><br></div><div>634 Plank Road Suite 102</div><div>Clifton Park, NY 12065</div><div>800 654 0021</div><div>Direct 518 670 4553</div><div><a href="mailto:eauerbach@nabcep.org">eauerbach@nabcep.org</a> </div><div><br></div>www.nabcep.org<br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"></span></span></span></span></span> </div><br><div><div>On 17-Jul-09, at 1:17 PM, Brian White wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><blockquote type="cite"><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">I realize that in the majority of the PV industry, the person that designs the PV System and provides drawings for the purpose of pulling a permit, is also the one that will be up on the roof completing the installation, but I have this question.</div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; min-height: 14px; "><br></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Short of NABCEP Certification or an Professional Engineer's degree does anybody know of any sort of a PV Designer Certification course?
