The PC-Connect kit should have included an RS-485 converter that goes on the serial port of your PC.  If you did not get one, we will send one overnight to you.  The PC software gives you full capability for control and setpoint changes, and monitoring to a database file of 15 minute averages and events.
 
The PC-Connect kit sells for about $100 including the comm adapter.

Has anybody installed a MM3 or 5 in a grid-connected application?  Since their monitor is not yet available, the only way to monitor the system is with an AEI-supplied CD-ROM and floppy installed into your PC and connected to the inverter with a phone line.  I've got the CD-ROM and floppy; I just can't figure out how to use it.  Anybody out there have experience setting up this monitoring set-up?
