We
also got tired of paying $400 to $600 for a combiner box and now build our
own. Purchase empty NEMA box that includes removable rear blank parts
mounting plate. Very easy to install as many sets of double Class R fuse
blocks as needed.
Also
mount an insulated base double power distribution block that has 4 to 6
separate #8 ins and a single #2/0 out for each of positive and negative
connecting points.
Costs about $80 to $90 for all materials and
takes about 30 minutes to drill mounting holes in base plate (included with
enclosure) and pre-wire fuses to distribution block to reduce field
wiring. We also add a DC lightning arrester on most which adds
$24.00.
