I have it from inside sources at Sandia that the SW has long had problems with the less than 5 percent THD required for grid-connected applications. Try a THD of the 10+ range. We who have been installing SWs for grid-tied systems these past years can only hope that Xantrex will step to the plate on this problem.

Noticed today that Trace posted its response to the UL islanding news release at http://www.traceengineering.com/company/press/112001.html
here is an interesting part of it:
Xantrex will introduce a new accessory, the Grid Tie Interface (GTI), for grid connected applications to assure compliance with all of the current and anticipated changes to the industry standards referenced in the UL communication. In addition, this device will provide control features that will improve power quality (total harmonic distortion). Third-party testing has already confirmed the performance improvements and IEEE 929 compliance achieved using the GTI, and listing of the SW series and the GTI to UL1741 is pending review of test data by UL and an additional listing agency. In parallel, Xantrex has enlisted the assistance of Sandia National Laboratories to provide yet a third review of the SW?x2019;s performance when used with the GTI in grid interactive use. As soon as approved, the product will be available via all of our distribution partners. All new installations of SW inverter/chargers for grid interactive (i.e., ?x201C;Sell?x201D;) applications will require that the GTI module be installed in conjunction with the SW. The GTI is not required in off-grid or back-up power applications.
Any customer currently installing an SW inverter/charger for utility interactive application is requested to contact their Trace reseller or their installer for instructions on how to obtain this accessory. More information and full details will be posted on our web site the week of November 26th.
