Hi Bill,

I just put in a Generac system last week... the deal with the auto position (of the auto/off/manual 3 position rocker switch), is that the unit needs to see 240 volts being fed to it from the home's electrical distribution panel (for it's electronics and battery charger) AND to determine if the grid is still active. When the grid goes down, the unit sees the outage and starts the generator in about 5 seconds. I do not remember any dip switches in the unit, but I suspect if the auto position always starts the generator, there is a problem with the 240 sense circuit or feed power. Maybe consider using the SW to switch (through an isolation relay) the 240 to the unit or better yet, have it control the contacts in the manual (on/off) position of the control switch.

Hope this helps,

Todd

Anyone have experience witht A 12kw Generac Gaurdian air cooled generator?  It is normally set up for a back up system that transfers to generator power when there is an outage.  A client of mine picked it up at a y2k garage sale.  I am trying to hook it up using the SW genstart feature.  The manual says that it is capable of remote start operation by the closing of two contacts (#183 & #187) when placed in the autostart position.  The generator starts in Auto regardless of if the switch is closed or not.  I expect that there is a dip switch somewhere that changes the operation from Auto to Remote that the manual fails to mention.  Any information would be appreciated, including a contact at generac (thier web site and customer service network sucks!).  Thanks
