Hi Tom - Ouch!
You kinda make me want to series-circuit myself
into a 24 panel photovoltaic cluster at high-noon, and just get the stinking
thing (life?) over with. No, but seriously, you made many good points with
your apocalyptic scenario. My take is that we have finally entered the
period where fossil fuels (why do you think they call them "Fossil Fuels"?) will
begin to reflect their true worth - as a commodity that is limited, and very
valuable. To this end, I see the whole chain, from peanut farmer to solar
wrench, as a means to absorb and reflect the true value of that fuel. I
am, of course, speaking of $5.00/gallon gasoline and $10.00/jar peanut butter
(organic, I pray) that may come in during any such transition period from the
fossil to the photon. The biggest concern of those of us "in the know" is
the limited window of remaining carbon based fuels available to us from this
planet. If we do not maximize the potential of the remaining carbon fuels
by creating massive renewables, we will not have the needed resources to
continue in the future.
Let us harness the photon now, so that we need not
harness the atom latter.
Rant-return now locked in the "off"
position.
