Re: This set-up keeps draining the lower right
battery

Can anyone
say why this set-up is killing any battery that is placed in the lower
right corner?
I have an explanation.
I
note two unusual events. The first is that the other three
batteries in the lower bank have increased in voltage, relative to all
other batteries.
You have had one battery fail in that corner at first, by a cell
short circuiting. This caused the other three batteries to
become over-charged.
This
causes this bank to roughly equal all the other battery bank
voltages.
Only by pushing the new battery voltage right down. The
battery you are putting into that slot has to be in a very high state
of charge if it is to be equal to the existing three. That bottom
string will discharge into the other strings, and this can easily
hammer the replacement unit.
The
second uniquity is the high amperage readings of the second bank up.
All these readings were taken while the system was charging from the
photovoltaics.
That second string up is your real problem. It is sucking
the charge out of the others. Disconnect it and test it
thoroughly. Something has failed in there. The failure is
preventing you from equalising the other strings.
My only
answer is to cross-tie the banks, but I don't want to do this without
relative certainty of success.
That would help but more important is to find the fault with the
second string up.
This system
worked great until it was taken apart and re-assembled (by someone
else;)). I'm stumped! Any takers? Has someone seen
this battery bank . . .
I didn't know we were allowed to send graphic files.
