Mowing the lawn in his bare feet in a lightning
storm?
It is a wonder he didn't call his insurance company or
his lawyer before he called the ambulance!!!!!
Sounds like he deserved it.

In reply to Hot Kelly Lightning
strike.
We experienced a strike last year the customer
said that he was struck mowing his lawn in bare feet during an electrical
storm. He said "it was the towers fault". He "call us first to let us
know he had already called the ambulance to come for him". We were out
on a job received the message next day. Panic set in.
Drove like mad to the site to find that the
tower had not been hit. The watsun tracker controller and motor, his
air-conditioner, the E-z wire center for the Whisper 1000 and the c-4o for
the solar array all cooked. Just a close one.

Subject: Lightning strike on Whisper
3000 [RE-wrenches]
Hello all,
I have the "opportunity" to fix a mess.
Lightning struck a Whisper 3000 on a
40' tilt tower. I have very little
experience with wind and have a couple of
questions. (BTW-I will be
contracting an experienced wind guy to help with
this project)
1. Do
I need to anticipate replacing conductor from wind gen to
control
panel?
2. The SW5548 is humming along- what are the chances
of it surviving?
3. Same with the batteries - (flooded)?
4. Anything
I need to look for that might be hidden damage?
I have not seen this
system yet so this is all the info I have for now.
Thanks in advance
for any advice.
PS thanks much for all the great info on UniSolar
roofing(and all that come
of it). It was a great string.
