I've seen mentioned here the concept of sending out a "packet" toWilliam and all,
prospective clients. What exactly do you send out in such a packet? I'd
like to put one together and I'm wondering if maybe we can share
information to assist us all.
This is more a topic for the 'Marketing' list than it is for the usual technical info on 'Wenches' list. Oops, Wrenches. If you don't know about the Marketing one or want to get on it, contact Bill Roush.
However to answer your query - I have about 8 to 10 individual letters I send out, which personalises it. One for a 'solar' query; another for 'wind' systems, etc, etc which include most permutations of the stuff we market. It is a friendly, feel good, type of letter reaffirming positive things. I also lightly promote Energy Efficiency and remind them about Conservation "every $1 spent on energy efficiency, saves $3 on reduced system costs" I also include 2 or 3 of my 'general' brochures I've made up which also have a 'feel good' aspect to them. I also include copies of Some manufacturers data, but not the technical stuff, more the general info put out by manufacturers. You have to look to get it, but its there. However it has MY stamp all over it, not any other persons contact details, which makes it confusing for the poor customers.
So I get a phone query for a 'solar' system, I find out if they want any other 'general' info as well, like on inverters, or........ 'why people should always use Deep Cycle batteries' of course it has my price list on the other side. Funny things, paper, it always seem to have two sides. Never send out anything with just one side used, even if you use it to promote what you do.
It goes without saying, to send out the 'packet' within a few days, if you can't, tell them you can't, but that they will get it within x-days. Its just plain good customer service.
If, after you send it out, leave it with them, if you don't hear back within a reasonable time (3 to 4 mo) then give a courtesy call & find out what they are up to, nicely. If they are in a big hurry, they will get back to you, don't worry.
It has been working nicely for me, besides all the other promotional work I do.
Best regards, John V, Christchurch, N.Z.
