Michael and wrenches: I did a personal inquiry with Vanner,Advanced Energy Systems and Advanced Energy Inc, concerning what was available or would be available soon in the way of grid-intertie inverters with battery backup.I also asked if they were interested in any installer feedback( actually didnt mention that part to AE Inc) and after two attempts to Vanner and still no reply, moved on to AES and received an immediate reply from Mark Hensley who is the US representative(an actual employee) for AES, and they are very willing to take input from US installers and the timing is good as they are in design phases for some new units for the american market. Currently they produce a 5kva,10,15 20 and I believe 25 unit that does 120/240 volts but the only catch is that they are not yet final on the UL listing. The other thing is the current units are 120vdc input( 48vdc due next year). I also found out something thats been a source of confusion ; AES is not connected with Advanced !
Energy Inc. who makes the GC1000.. They were affiliated at one time. AEinc. has only the grid tied 1000 watt unit but are coming out with a 3kw and 5kw unit in march. As far as AES ,I found Mr. Hensley very open to input and mentioned the RE-wrenches archive as a place to see some ideas. They would like to get a wish list of ideas for future designs for US customers. I have no desire to step on anyones toes in this group concerning individuals acting as spokespersons for the group and only approached these companies on my own behalf and am grateful for the work of the people that engineered that meeting with Trace and hope that leads to something beneficial.
