There are several misconceptions about Water Miser Safety Vent Caps and Hydrocaps. . .

Never bake hydrocaps in the oven - it will turn the carbon in the block to black dust. Take a hydrocap apart and you will see two carbon cylinder blocks with a platinum screen sandwiched in between. Baking, equalization charges, or overcharging can turn the carbon to charcoal dust if it doesn't melt to plastic first.

Water Miser Safety Vent Caps do reduce watering, however, that is not their main purpose. They prevent an externally created spark from flashing back into and exploding the battery. Hydrocaps do not do this; they are still externally vented to the battery. The Hindenburg’s hydrogen did not explode, the hydrogen flashed out. The skin of the dirigible caught fire. The only people who died were the ones that jumped from 200'. EVERYONE who rode the Hindenburg to Earth lived. However, a hydrogen flashback into a battery CAN cause an ugly explosion - Water Miser Safety Vent Caps prevent this.

Also, there is no need to remove the Water Miser Caps for equalization or for adding water; removal always results in some acid spillage. Just flip the cap and check the water level - no acid spill. The Water Miser Caps take up the same space as a normal battery cap. The condensing pellets go down into the battery. A cleaner safer environment for batteries. Send me your address and I’ll mail you a FREE Water Miser Cap. They are $5.00ea in orders of fifty.
