Subject: Automatcic control of SW4024
[RE-wrenches]
I have a SW4024 with 1.3KW of PV and
sell to the local electric
cooperative. My problem was if I left
the inverter in sell mode, when
the sun
went down the inverter would consume
power while continuing to maintain
the sell voltage overnight until the
sun appeared the next morning.
Being an imbedded software engineer I knew there was a better way.
I purchased a Z-world imbedded controller
with built-in serial ports and
analog to digital converter. The a
serial port on the controller is
connected to a Trace Comm interface.
The controller reads the voltage
off a 60-amp shunt connected to the
PV supply. Using a simple
histeresas algorithm the controller
commands the inverter to "sell" mode
after the PV current has be 5 amps
or above for three minutes.
Conversely when the PV current drops
below 5 amps for six minutes the
controller commands the inverter back
to the "SLT", silent mode.
While not an inexpensive solution, it
has been working great for the
last six months.
