[RE-wrenches] Midnite AIO Random Unexplained Shutdowns

All,
This thread has many components that I will try to address.
MNP recommends that inverters *experiencing issues* be updated to V7
firmware, which is available on the service portal. This firmware includes a
Shutdown Log that can be used to pinpoint shutdown events directly in the
portal. MNP continues to improve firmware operation as wiring practices and
operating conditions are identified that do not follow manual
recommendations. V7 also includes many improvements related to ESS
controls, which have been a source of issues in some installations.
If you are experiencing shutdown issues, please contact MNP support.
MNP is one of the only manufacturers that provides onsite training for
installers. If you are having installation challenges, please let MNP
know—they are happy to train your team. MNP also performs site visits to
help ensure customer satisfaction. Please reach out to the MNP crew if you
need assistance.
During site visits, most inverter shutdown issues have been resolved by
identifying wiring and configuration problems. Many of these involve
improper CT placement and programming. If you are installing more than two
inverters and the system is grid-tied, you should be using the CT Meter as
outlined in the manual.
Regarding comments about the batteries: MNP has sold thousands of PF16
batteries, with fewer than a dozen damaged during shipping. Once batteries
leave the warehouse and are shipped to the distributor, they are no longer
under the manufacturer’s control. We all know how rough shipping can be.
As with solar panels, installers must inspect batteries for damage upon
receipt. If damage is found, it should be claimed immediately. For battery
warranty claims, MNP requires photos of the battery box, which contains the
battery serial number. If the box is not retained, the process becomes more
difficult. MNP does not ship batteries with holes in the case or with
shifted cells. Batteries are shipped laying on their back, the only way to
shift cells is to drop a 300-pound battery on its side. In short, the
installer has responsibility to inspect equipment and retain packing
materials until inspection is complete.
MNP is *installer-focused*, not DIY, and is fully committed to this
inverter platform. The goal is to build and support the best AIO on the
market. MNP continues to add features and is currently the only AIO that
fully supports lead-acid (LA) batteries. Additional enhancements for
generator support and monitoring are forthcoming.
Please reach out to the MNP team with any questions.
