[RE-wrenches] [EXTERNAL] Outback Power FLAs to LFPs

Hey Chris,
I had a very similar setup at my house although mine was pushing 17 years old.
In the end, because of the 24 V system and lack of closed loop communication, I ended up replacing the whole system. I went with Victron and Discover and have been very happy. I had the old MATE, so having an app with full system control is a game changer for me, especially with my extensive travel schedule. There are limited options for 24 V LI batteries (when compared to the 48 V options).
I'm sure there are 24 V options out there, but they're never going to have closed loop communication with Outback. I know open loop will most likely work, but having communication where the BMS can drive the charging is far superior.
Thanks,
Will

Dear people:
We have a customer in Henryetta, Oklahoma, and he’s been buying various equipment from us over the years. He’s elderly, a veteran, and a believer in solar power. But he’s been having battery problems (he’s got twelve 6V L16 types at present) and is interested in moving up to LFPs. He’s got an Outback VFX3524, FM60, MATE3S, Hub4 and the usual accoutrements. If he wants to go with LFPs, what are your suggestions – and also how might it integrate with his 3-year old inverter? I suspect he will be unwilling to spend a chunk of change on a new inverter. All advice is welcome!
Best,
Chris Daum
