[RE-wrenches] Enphase Off-Grid

I know Enphase now allows full off-grid, but I read their tech brief, and
it requires a generator to be present for commissioning, I believe. Has
anyone commissioned one of these systems off-grid?

The reason I ask is that I have a new home build, and the utility meter
won't be set until January or later. I could plausibly install the
microinverters and batteries and get the system up and running to power the
house during construction, prior to having a utility source. That should
qualify them for the tax credit.

If the off-grid mode can't be set up without a generator, I suppose it
would be possible to "trick" the system by getting it commissioned with a
generator on the AC input of the System Controller with the profile set to
no export. That's not ideal, probably not advisable, and certainly not
supported, but... as long as the generator source is clean enough to look
like the grid...

I reached out to Enphase to see if the generator requirement can be waived,
which is the ideal scenario.

I would be interested in hearing about any general experiences with Enphase
in full off-grid use. I can't imagine there are that many out there yet.
