[RE-wrenches] Bypass Musings

Dave:

I have never been questioned about one of these interlocks by an
inspector. I am prepared for it:

· I can show a similar, factory built, approved interlock.

· I can remove the interlock and demonstrate that even if the
interlock falls off, turning on all circuit breakers simply makes the
inverter system shut down immediately. There is no risk to life or
property.

If the installation will be inspected I polish up the interlock a bit more
than usual and I may paint it. The bright cold galv. gives them a nice
look. Or I have a bristle disc that gives a nice swirl finish. I added a
close up to the article just now with the swirl.

Hi William,

Thanks for sharing. I like your interlocking system, especially for when
you need to run a load panel that is >100A. Have you ever had an inspector
give you a hard time about making your own interlock, rather than using
something listed?
