Hi Mick,
I know that you started off saying that you would prefer to not have to
learn a new skill. However, I find it very useful to be able to make cables
of custom length, and also to be able to crimp ends on after the cable is
run into a box. This way it can go in conduit or through standard wire
glands without having to worry about the bulky end. There are plenty of
videos on you tube that can teach you to make the end, and simple crimpers
and ends are not very expensive.
Unfortunately, I do not have a good source of custom pre-fabricated
ethernet cables.
