[RE-wrenches] Issues with HomeGrid

I intend to get the stacks Internet connected on my next visit. They just got
Starlink at this remote location. The batteries were being used for power during
the new home construction when there was no Internet on site. I'm doubtful that
the faulty BMS will be able to make a connection now, but who knows. 


It seems like the Internet connectivity of these batteries is pretty useless
anyway. The app certainly is. And customer support never asks you if it's online
- they require a Windows laptop, special cables, and remote support software to
do diagnostics. It seems the only time WiFi comes up is when they want to deny a
warranty claim. 


Based on my conversations with customer service, which again, seems very
competent, efficient, and patient, it became apparent that their Chinese
overlords are probably calling the shots. I didn't get the sense that the RMA
escalation procedure was going anywhere useful. They had the lowest level
customer support agent get back to me with the bad news via email. I am
appealing the decision, but won't hold my breath. Meanwhile, the homeowner is
suffering with batteries not communicating, a 25% reduction in capacity, and
uncertainty on where to go from here.


Bottom line:


Must be Internet Connected = Not Suitable for Off-Grid Use




Oh, by the way, HomeGrid and Sol-Ark are pointing fingers at each other about
the master BMS in this system not communicating properly with a Sol-Ark 15K. The
BMS is recognized for a few seconds, with the Sol-Ark reporting the correct SOC%
from the battery on the main screen, then it reverts to Voltage mode
automatically. There is no information displayed in the Lithium Batt menu.
