That is an unfortunate side effect from living in California. With a little bit of disassembly all be it not much, in most states the scrap yards will pay for E-waste.

Today I learned that Solaredge will not accept responsibility for the E-Waste they generate.
They refuse to reimburse installers who are stuck with it. In my experience SolarEdge has a very high failure rate.
My local e-waste facility doesn't accept solar inverters.
