[RE-wrenches] AGM blew on discharge

Wrenches,

The S6-460AGM still gasses about 6 liters of hydrogen per battery per hour
while being charged at 2.35vpc or higher, in warmer temperatures, this
gassing accelerates. at 40 C this gassing rates double. In AGM
batteries there is a pressure vent that allows the battery to gas in these
conditions.

If you don't have ventilation or this hydrogen gas is ignited it can and
will trace back to the battery with the highest concentration of gas, and
once it finds compression it'll cook off like a firecracker.

It's a good idea to at least have passive ventilation on AGM while FLA
needs active ventilation, in warmer locations it's a good idea to have some
active ventilation (Cooling helps too) instead of just passive ventilation.

I still see a lot of FLA or AGM batteries being installed directly under
the inverters, chargers or charge controllers... Hydrogen gasses are
lighter than air, so the gas tends to rise vertically. If this gas gets
into the power electronics it can cause corrosion within the power
electronics and if you get a spark from a relay transition you could get an
ignition of the hydrogen gasses causing the battery to blow its top.
