[RE-wrenches] Question on Back up generators

Dana,

Exact same experience with the Kohler 14KW. I don't think I'm even getting a week of cloudy weather to "lose" the battery with a 30W PV.

Also, Chris mentioned its the battery charger pulling (the majority?) of the phantom load. It has always been my understanding that start batteries are higher in calcium and have a very low inherent discharge rate. It may be the battery charger that is pulling the power to keep the battery charged but to me it seems that it is because the battery is being drawn down by the control board.

KOHLERS RSA14 - 14 KW is the same I have to run and AC circuit to the gen to run a battery charger from the inverter. A 30 Watt PV module in the winter is not enough if it is cloudy for a week. The battery dies and has frozen. Again the control board is too much draw and does way too much.
