[RE-wrenches] 24V Zephyr Vent Fan from a Magnum MS4024PAE inverter

Hi Chris,
All the aux relays are voltage controlled so not sure what setting you would use to activate the fan? I would assume you are trying to turn the fan on based on high temperature in an enclosure or something so battery voltage wouldn’t be a good indicator. We have military and vehicle applications that use +12 or 24v to the fan via an adjustable t-stat. Check Grainger under HVAC t-stats, this one is around $25

Hi Chris,

If you have a Magnum router in this system, you do have access to an aux contact otherwise you'll need an external relay.

Good luck

The Magnums do not have relays available like the old SWs, but you can run a Zephyr directly from either a Outback FM controller or a Midnite Classic. Both have a controlled 200 mA, 12 output. I've had occasional trouble running the Zephyr because as weird as this sounds: the fan can have a start up surge that exceeds 200 mA. Its like sizing a water pump for mice.....you still have to look at the locked rotor current and surge current. With the Midnite Classic, it will just shut off the 12 v output if it exceeds 200 mA, and it doesn't seem to have an error message or warning.
You could also use a Simple Switch, or other voltage controlled switching device (C40, Tristar, Solar Converters, etc)

Dear folks:

Has anyone hooked up a battery vent fan, being turned on and off using just a Magnum MS4024PAE inverter? Is there some AUX output that can be used?

Thanks as always for your help!
