Sorry to hear you had such trouble with the XW.

Yes, the battery monitor can be used with battery based system.  The 
monitoring and logging is done in its own internal memory.

        I just replaced a failed XW..... is the XW BTS compatible with an 
FM60?  Thanks in advance,
