[RE-wrenches] Shorting LA302 lightning protection

Hey all.

 

I had a wild trouble shoot this weekend as follows:

 

A So Cal Client calls & 1 of his 4 - MX60 CC"s out of operation, works 10
minutes and then shows gibberish on the screen and shuts down. To get it
awake again he needed to totally power it down for 15 min and restart.

Checked continuity, breaker, wire, operated with one circuit from array at a
time, & same problem.

Installed new MX60 CC same problem. Checked all connections, & again same
problem.

 

Scratch head!

 

Disconnected the LA302 lighting arrester and guess what, problem solved.

He is going to cut the can open and see it the sand interior is welded
together.

 

Has anyone else heard of this?
