To the best of My knowledge Robin had no knowledge of that issue. I also
remember that issue and it was aggravating to troubleshoot.

Luke,

Don't know if you found your 48v shunt, but I've been meaning to mention
that if you are using the TM500 in a 48v system along with a C40 Charge
controller, you may run into charging problems. My memory from many years
ago was that the shunt board set up some noise on the DC bus that confused
the C40 and it stopped charging. This was a problem that Xantrex only
finally admitted to after 1 1/2 years of traveling to a remote site to
figure out why the clients system was not getting an appropriate amount of
solar gain and talking to about every tech and engineer that I could get
through to. It was the final straw in my decision to never use Xantrex
equipment again - not that they had a problem, but that they would not admit
it to me until I wasted enormous amounts of time going back and forth,
finally getting some low level tech to tell me that the issue was identified
some 6 months earlier. To date they have never issued a tech note on this.
The TM500 is a bastardization of the Trimetric, and I was told that Xantrex
was warned to not put some of the electronics onto the shunt, but they
decided to do so anyway. I think that boB or Robyn were long gone from
Xantrex by the time this issue was identified, but I'd be curious to hear if
they knew anything about it...
