Hey Nicholas,
I've always liked the Sno Knife (American made). It is used kind of like a
spatula: http://sno-knife.com/
I also like all plastic roof rakes for a pulling motion from the ground:

Subject: [RE-wrenches] roof rakes
Does anyone have a particular roof rake to recommend for clearing snow off
low roofs and ground-mount arrays? Plastic, poly, squeegee.... So many
choices!
