[RE-wrenches] GEC and EGC Advice

Allen,

As far as best practices go, I would route all those conductors and GEC/ECG
in the same raceway."  To maintain the shortest electrical time constant in
each circuit, the ECG should be routed as closely as possible to the
circuit conductors. This routing facilitates the operation on over-current
devices"(2011 Nec Handbook). And as far as safety goes I would never rely
on the continuity of the conduit to be my EGC. What if it seperatres some
how due to thremal expansion or some other unforeseen calamity? I do think
SolarPro just ran a great grounding article recently too in regards to the
2011 code changes.
There is also a provision in 690 to combine the EGC&GEC into one conductor
(690.47(c)(3).
