Sorry I was thinking a barrel roof was like a 20 foot radius of curature, sort
of like a quansit roof.

Aaron:

Attached is a drawing that indicates how we designed a system for a large
barrel-roof warehouse with the curvature N-S.  The project requirements were to
"max out" the PV component on this roof.  As you can see, the south rows are
parallel with the roof and subsequent rows have longer and longer back legs to
allow southern exposure.  The shading study was extensive to ensure that there
was no inter-row shading.

Each blue rectangle is actually two rows of modules in portrait.  We are
sticklers for providing walking room on a roof so the spaces in between rows
accomplish that goal.

I hope this drawing and explanation provides you with some inspiration.

This will be a grid tied system (3 to 4 kw) on a barrel roof with a membrane
type of outer layer.  The curvature is over N-S.  The roof is also longer east
to west than north to south so I am thinking the layout will be two rows of
modules in portrait.  Any info would be a great help in my design.
