[RE-wrenches] deadly fall off of roof

So -- how do firefighters stay safe on roofs? We are not usually tied
off, and are instead clinging to roof ladders, at least on the steep
pitches.

Darryl Thayer got it right in his last post--- training. Practice,
practice, practice. We climbed roof ladders during Firefighter Academy
day after day, and then night. And *then* we iced down the roof and the
ladders on a winter's night, and did it again. All while wielding
chainsaws and axes. And even in my tiny volunteer department, we still
practice it.

Darryl said:
"I have offered a roof safety course [to PV installers] twice now and
intend to do it again, but I have a hard time convincing venues and
other powers to give me the support that I feel this deserves. Good
people doing good work should be able to have good lives."

Yep!
