The common grey squirrel was the culprit in both my cases.

In certain parts of the US, "chipmunks", the ones with stripes (they sing,
remember Alvin?), are referred to as "ground squirrels". In other areas,
"ground
squirrels" are known as "chipmunks".
In this part of VT, there are "grey squirrels", "red squirrels",
"chipmunks",
"ground squirrels, "deer mice" (not to be confused with "deer ticks"), and
"deer".
We've seen no damage to module wiring as yet. The "deer mice" have
occasionally
chewed on "romex". This winter, the "deer" left the modules alone, but
nearly
destroyed the apple trees.
Two weeks ago we found a "wood tick" behind our granddaughter's left ear.
I also had an recent encounter with a potential client's "rottwieller",
described to me moments before as a "big baby".
The good news, he was up to date on his rabies shots. The bad news, we
didn't
get the job.
Beware of teeth, even babies bite.

We replaced a 60 module system in the "Stunt Ranch" area of Malibu Canyon.
Problem was not with squirrels but defective modules (mfgr will go unnamed).
We were instructed to carefully refit the expanded metal screens to keep
"ground squirrels" out from underneath the modules. We used LMFC everywhere
to get to the first j-boxes and then EMT to the inverters.
I believe that "ground squirrels" are not really squirrels but rodents of
another sort.

This is interesting to see what regions the squirrels are active.
I hear Vermont, Mass, New Hampshire, and Colorado
here in southern California I have heard of no problems
any other areas anybody knows of?
is it the cold weather?
is it only use-2 or is this including rhw?
