[RE-wrenches] Consmption current?

Designing stand alone bus stop system. Client is wanting to put in a 
radio/mp3/cd unit (please don't ask me why). I am a bit confused in looking 
at the specs.....they show maximum "supply current" of 500mA and 
"consumption current" at 10A.......not familiar with the difference in those
