My elevator guy turned me on to the GoLo - an AC powered hoist that has been made by the same family-owned company for 40 years <http://www.cordem.com/> We use them for all sorts of stuff when the truck is not the power source. Mile Marker hydraulic is our preference when vehicle mounted.

The magic word when you are shopping is hoist - these are industrial ratings for a deadlift with safety factor included. Very hard to get the offroad makers to come up with a hoist rating, probably due to liability.
