Mick says: You'll never really "know" until you try. Even if someone
else reports success with a 1hp submersible pump, "your mileage may
vary". One must also consider the ability of a particular battery bank
to provide adequate surge power on the DC side. If this were my
prospect, I would not extend a 100% money back guarantee, but I would
certainly extend an 85% money back guarantee (within the fine print of
my normal 30 day return policy).

This looks like a safe gamble to me. One of my clients has a stacked
pair of the XW 6048's. The pair can crank a 5 ton refrigerated air
conditioning system which has a "locked rotor" amp draw rating of 150
amps (240 split phase). My same client tried with a second A/C unit
which (is also rated 5 tons but) is less energy efficient and has a
L.R.A. rating of 170 amps. The inverter pair shuts down when that load
is substituted for the first one, but either load exceeds the 7 second
surge rating (for the pair of inverters) by about 50% so it's a bit
amazing that the inverter pair can crank either of these A/C units.

Go for it. Provided that there's plenty of DC battery power, I'll bet
one of those inverters will spin up a 1hp submersible no problem.
