Call me when a Nanosolar module has been in the sun for five years.

Someone asked about Nanosolar. See
http://www.solarbuzz.com/news/NewsEUPR420.htm

Nanosolar and Beck Energy won a highly competitive solar power project. July
2004, I meet Bernard Beck at his home and shop in Dimbach, Germany. Bernard
helped introduce First Solar modules into Germany and First Solar boomed. He
installed First Solar arrays on his house, barn, shops and almost every barn
and building in the village of Dimbach. His backyard ground-mounted PV
system is 1.3 megawatts of First Solar modules! Bernhard also developed
SMA's string monitoring capability. Nanosolar has hooked up with a talented,
innovative PV engineer and business person. I have not seen the numbers, but
I'm sure Nanosolar can beat First Solar which until now has had the lowest
installed price per kW for large-scale PV (not the lowest kWh price, see
Photon International magazine, November 2007, page 106). In 1994, Paul
Balcore and Jim Gee predicted crystalline silicon PV will be in a position
to compete for the US residential power market starting in about 2010. At
that time, PV engineers and scientists thought that thin film would follow
after c-Si. Watch out crystalline silicon. Here comes thin film for
large-scale, low power density PV projects. Email me if you would like a
copy of Paul and Jim's classic 1994 paper or photos of Bernard's PV systems.
