Good questions, but I believe that you have made one error - that "all generator manufacturers have stopped making 1800 RPM generators". This is not the case. Lister/Petter still makes a superb 1800 RPM unit that is used by LP under their own brand, and by Onan (but painted green). They are available in Diesel and LP versions.
