 From another installer:

I spent almost 3 hours on the phone with xantrex tech support and we 
have NOT resolved this issue. The nature of the problem is this: The 
inverter is in Sell to Grid mode and is inverting far less then its 
capacity (around 1kW) but it sounds like it's about ready to explode. 
There is a very loud 60hz hum with lots of higher frequency squeels and 
buzzes as well. It is loud enough that the sheet metal cases of the 
equipment is rateling and buzzing as well is the inards. When this is 
happening the battery voltage would be between 53.5-54 volts.

It would do this for about 30 seconds and then stops for 5-10 seconds. 
When it stops the inverter kicks out of Sell to Grid and into Grid 
Support mode. The battery voltage spikes to 59-60 volts and it stops the 
charge controllers from charging- the controllers said 0-15 watts. And 
then the cycle starts again... load humming even though it's only 
processing 1/6th the array power, and then silence....
