Mounting To SIPS [RE-wrenches]

Hi Mark,
I have done several over the last six years with great results so far.
Typically I have had 1/8" stainless steel plates (or 1/4" aluminum
plates) made measuring 8"x8". These have a 1/2" hole drilled in the
center and 1/4 " holes drilled in each corner approximately 1" in from
the corner. The typical SIP we have worked with is 9 7/8" thick, so we
used 12" stainless steel lag bolts with SS fender washers and lock
washers and nut. We pre-drill through the SIP with a 1/2" bit, back
both plates with bituthane (ice and water shield) and use SikaFlex to
sealunderneath each plate before putting the 12" lag through. We then
use 1.5" ss lag screws to affic the plate in the four corners, applying
Sika FLex to each 1/4" hole before and after screwing in the lag. The
mounting feet obviously go against the plate, followed by the fender
washer and lockwasher. The other washer, lock washer, nut is installed
on the underside of the SIP. Contact me offline if I haven't been
clear.
