Hello Offgrids (and others)

We are new to this application area, so I think we are asking some basic
questions

We are looking for a genset, pre-mounted on a trailer/hitch and suitable for
outdoor exposure (or modifiable to be). This is for an off-grid solar /
battery powered communications system. The genset set being the backup
should the batteries reach their maximum discharge level. Therefore we need
an auto start capability and transfer switch, correct?

The elevation is ~4,000 ft in southern California. If we go diesel do we
need glo-plugs for winter operation?

We need a 6-8 kW generator with a high degree of reliability and a fuel tank
for 48 hours operation.

Any help in sourcing this puppy would be greatly appreciated. Also is there
a manual or book on the subject of designing power systems for remote comm.
sites?
