Ananda Alumni: Mercury relay question [RE-wrenches]

Hi,

My client's RV needs a "low voltage disconnect" for the 12 volt
circuits...and we also want a remote control for "manual off" so a
normal C-40 type control won't work.

I may build a control with a mercury displacement contactor for the
switching, and the Morningstar Relay Driver for the deciding.

As installed in the Ananda Powercenter, these mercury relays have some
cryptic components on the coil terminals and I wonder if I need those in
my application? It looks like there's a diode in series with the coil
control voltage, and a second diode wired reverse bias across the coil.

What are those widgets for? Do I need them?
