NABCEP test WHERE this is discussed [RE-wrenches]

I'm not sure if the site WHERE this is discussed is relevant! What is
relevant is a simple way to assure those presently holding the NABCEP
certification and the public that chooses to review this site, that the
test has NOT been influenced by IBEW, IREC, NYCERTA,(just examples
folks, NOT implying) or ANY other organization that may benefit by"
pumping out" a NABCEP certified workforce.

Personally I've held back from commenting on this in public. I DID
forward these e mails to NABCEP as soon as I saw the first posting re/
the test. I also contacted various board members, that took ,(what I
perceived) their time in responding. I soon was reminded, these folks
also have other lives & whom are NOT PAID to have the dubious
distinction of being "on the board".

Those of us who worked to develop the NABCEP program, the test, & pushed
hard to have it used as the ACME of solar certifications did that
because we are NOT "hippies" doing solar installations we ARE
PROFESSIONALS & needed recognition. Some of us are NOT electricians nor
do we want to become their competition. Some who took the test, having
quite a bit of experience. did fail, & took it again & passed.

I will comment that when we, the first few test takers took the test, we
did not have the pleasure of seminars training us to pass. Folks now are
profiting because of the need for NABCEP installers. This being said
there ARE some folks that are presently certified, that had a NABCEP
installer sign off on their installs & they are good test takers that
SHOULDN'T be installing! Use the ethics committee & bring it up! WE ALL
signed the paper accepting our responsibilities to keep things above
board. There ARE legitimate situations that need to be reviewed, not
just trashing your competition.

The secrecy that surrounds the NABCEP program , its testing & grading
needs to be removed. I DO KNOW that there is a simple way that would
clarify this issue and that is the the pass/fail rate of this test as
compared to the ones in the past. This way we would be able to eliminate
any doubt w/o compromising the test or anyone's privacy. If anything it
would insure transparence and reassure the public that it is "The tough
one to get"!

This is again another problem, I believe, we holders of the NABCEP
certification have; we believe the NABCEP organization is like a union,
some group that we all will get something out of, NOT !!!!! THAT IS A
FIGMENT OF YOUR NABCEP IMAGINATION!!! You paid yer $$$, took the test &
passed, now go forth & use the logo.

NABCEP has to be independent from us otherwise it will lose its
creditability, I think it still has some. I would suggest that those of
us who are certified look at what IS being done. There ARE forums that
YOU too can get into,i.e.. developing test questions & reviewing them.
I presently sit on one of these committees, OPPS I guess I shouldn't let
you guys & gals know, BUT there are others, agent 007, agent 99,86, ect
that are also on the ethics review board committee. As of today there
ARE a few situations that are beginning to be addressed re/ miss use of
the logo & other issues by non certified persons. I'll let you know how
I feel about the way that issue has been handled after I visit the cone
of silence.

NABCEP is still in its infancy morphing to address us NABCEP
certificate holders, the industry & the wanna be NON qualified
installers.

Want a support group, we've had these discussions in the past & nothing
has come of them.Hey I know lets charge dues & gain nothing. I AM
interested in working on this, some sort of trade group, but it will
NEVER be NABCEP . We at one time discussed insurance thru a NABCEP
affiliated programs but .......We expect much & get little.
