HI All;

Its that time of year, and we're having problems with temp
compensated controllers raising the battery voltage above the
operating voltage of the inverter (say 32 v on a 24 v system) I know
the batteries should be kept warmer (say in an underground vault or
better insulated) I've only seen this problem with modsine inverters
that don't have adjustable set points, and batteries not well insulated.

It would be nice if charge controllers had a limit on the temp
compensation. Also how come Blue SKy and Magnum have their sensors
bolt to the battery terminal? It leaves it more exposed to air temp.
Could those be run down to the bottom of the batteries to get more of
a core temp, like we do with the Outback and Xantrex sensors?
FInal question: does the inverter temp sensor also adjust its cut in/
cut out voltages, or is it just for battery charging? (ie, could I
put a temp sensor on the inverter too and have it not shut off?)

Thanks,

Ray Walters
