SMA Grid Tie system with Sunny Island, or, Out Back battery back up. [RE-wr

Wrenches,

For an existing system with a Sunny Boy 3800U inverter, what do wrenches
prefer Sunny Island, or Out Back VFX to provide battery backup?

I understand that we can use an OutBack VFX inverter for the backup system
and connect that to the sub panel with the critical load circuits. Would
this operate like a UPS system with an automatic transfer switch for the
critical loads panel?

One of the loads will be a 240v water pump, so we will need one 120/240v
transformer.

I am not sure how the OB back up system interfaces with the utility power vs
how the Sunny Island interfaces. Anyone with experience with both, or at
least one of these methods that can shed some light on this topic?

Dave
