relay for MX60 aux output [RE-wrenches]

Depends on if you want to divert a DC source or an AC source.

AC type solid state relays are easy to get - even available surplus.

DC type solid state relays are a little harder to find - I recomend the
following companies units:

http://www.power-io.com/

You will need a heatsink for them (they sell them pre-installed BTW).
The AC type SSRs need smaller heatsinks then the DC ones as they carry
less current. You can order these direct from their site.

All of these SSRs take a 12vdc input signal direcly from the mx60s AUX
output - so even if the system is 48vdc you will just need only a SSR.

These also have an LED indicator on them which is extremely helpful in
understanding their operation - especially when the load is hard to
check (such as a water heater element).

You should also set the time delays and hysterysis to zero - this allows
the SSR to switch on and off quickly for the smoothest control - It
basically will do a low frequency PWM which is much better than having a
relay switching on/off bang-bang all the time.
