Project management software? [RE-wrenches]

A couple of options

Goldmine- for lead tracking- connects to QB's
Coastal Computer Corp for scheduling- connects to QB's
Visoninfo soft-EBM for electrical estimating- connects to QB's

Keep it simple and stay away from custom- we have been there and desire to
never return- training can be a nightmare as well as glitches. These
programs above will achieve the stated objectives. Software is just a tool-
nothing is more or less effective than a good business plan, effective
communications and job costing.

Subject: Project management software? [RE-wrenches]

We are looking at new software, primarily to coordinate project management,
hopefully to include estimating/invoicing, possibly to include sales/CRM or
even to include accounting (right now we have quickbooks).

Of course no one makes this "custom" for RE-specific business, but we aren't
too different from an electrical contractor or HVAC contractor in this area.

We have narrowed the field to The American Contractor, Sage Timberline and
Accubuild. These for general contracting businesses with specialty modules
for Electrical contractors.

We also are considering using some free University student labor to "custom"
build a database to do what we want (but have gotten almost universal advice
not to go this route).

I am interested in any input or experience you all may have in this area -
Thanks!

For a brighter energy future,
