New IEEE neutral sensing BS [RE-wrenches]

Friends:

I knew it was coming but I did not see the implications:

The new standard requires that inverters sense phase-to-neutral
voltage. We just installed a Xantrex GT5 in a commercial setting with an
"Open Delta" configuration. We had to do a line side tap in order to
comply with NEC 690-64. Space for line taps was tight so I chose the two
leads with the most room. One was the stinger-- and the new IEEE compliant
inverter would not operate on the stinger.

My lead electrician is on site now and I do not envy the contortions he is
going through to relocate the tap connector. Furthermore, if we wanted to
put in more than one inverter (ideally three), we can not balance our
inverters on phases.

This is a real down side to the new regulation and grounds for insisting
that a means be included to adjust the window or disable neutral sensing.
