Battery Fuel Gauge [RE-wrenches]

Don,

Menu #11 AC Inputs sets the lowest voltage at which the inverter is allowed
to be connected to the utility grid (AC Input 1) or to the generator (AC
Input 2). The range is 85 to 110 VAC. If grid or genset voltage drops below
the setpoint, the inverter will disconnect from the grid or genset and power
the load from the battery. My dilemma is if I lower the setting from the
default 108 VAC, then I will not get nuisance grid brownout switch-overs to
the inverter off-grid mode, but the low grid voltage will not power some
loads and will shorten the load life. On the other hand, if I raise the
setting to 110 VAC, then I will get more brownout switch-overs from grid to
battery but my small battery bank is only 3.3 kWh. So I complain to Southern
California Edison when the voltage drops below 110 VAC. If SCE does not
correct the low voltage (probably replace the old pole-mount transformer),
the next step is to complain to the CPUC.

Joel Davidson
