Grounding on rock [RE-wrenches]

Hello Jim,

What we do is weld up the grounding plates in the shop.  A 1/4" piece  
of steel 1'x1' with a rod welded to the top meets the NEC.  Then if  
it is rock like you are describing we bring in soil and mound it up,   
to get the plate 24" deep.  It sure beats a couple hours with the  
Jackhammer.
