12v ballasts [RE-wrenches]

Just a little more FYI to add what Kurt mentioned,

120 VAC electronic ballasts are available in a variety of ballast factors.
In general they range from as low to .6 to 1.2.

Standard electronic ballasts are .85 to .88 (varies amongst manufacturers).
That number is multiplied x the lumens the lamp is rated at to determine the
lumens that lamp will deliver.

If you use a ballast with a ballast factor of 1.2 then you get 20% more
light out of the lamp then it's rated at. The lamp manufacturers fully
warranty their lamps for use on ballasts of up to 1.2.

Wattage is approximately correspondent with ballast factor but to be 100%
accurate consult the manufacturers published specifications.

An easy way to get more light out of a light fixture with no increase in
wattage is to use an "800 Series" lamp. These lamps have 5%-10% more light
output with no increase in energy usage.

Generally speaking, FO40 refers to magnetic ballasts (in the standard AC
world) and is not compatible with T-8 lamps.

Just an FYI that (like the vast majority of AC electronic ballasts) the Iota
32 watt DC ballasts underdrive the tube so you will get approximately 28
Watts out of them.

They still offer the FO40 ballast which will drive lamps up to 40W (and
really push 32W into a T8) if you ask.
