welding on array pipe [RE-wrenches]

I would think it is always a good idea, but probably not a problem if you
have a great ground close to the welded point. You don't want the current
having to look for a place to go and using the gear as a highway to ground. 
At least shut off the controllers or the power to them if you can.

Just got a good question from my main man.

"Can we weld onto the steel pipe on that top of pole array?"

This is on an existing system that wants some custom steel work off of the
pole top pipe.

Would we need to disconnect any wiring before welding?
