I think Darryl is not so much trying to make a marginal generator work as 
he is trying to finesse "generator support" out of an Outack.  How else can 
a generator keep batteries topped up while an Outback is powering 
loads?  The SW, however, can charge batteries and power loads, and 
furthermore, help the generator if the loads exceed the programmed amperage 
available from the generator (or any AC source).

Darryl, have you considered using a commercially available battery 
charger?  I have not researched this, but if one could find a battery 
charger with decent three stage regulation that accepts 120 or 240VAC input 
then you can minimize how many parts you have to obtain and lash together.

I would like to hear of any chargers that might meet this criteria.
